Lunch Day 2008

Lunch Flyer 2008

On Friday the 27th June 2008, the Golden Stave celebrated it’s 30th anniversary charity luncheon. Over 1060 guests assembled at the Hordern Pavilion to enjoy the Rock ‘n’ Roll Musical’s theme, raising a total of $700,000 on the day for children's charities. The stage was set early with the opening performance from “The Circle of Life Band” a Lion King tribute.

Michael Chugg started proceedings by welcoming the guests, thanking the loyal supporters and then introducing past long serving MC Barry Chapman back for the day, having flown in especially from the UK. Chugg and Chapman slipped easily into their humorous banter, entertaining the crowd and ably supported throughout the day by guest co-hosts Angela Catterns, Nick Bennett, Angela Bishop, Tom William and Zoe Naylor. Chugg announced and introduced recently appointed Golden Stave Ambassador Jono Coleman to the guests.

The lunch guests enjoyed performances from a star studded line up featuring Andrew O’Keefe’s fabulous performance of the legendary JOK’s “The Wild One“ then joined by The Golden Stave House Band performing “Shout”. Jack Thompson & Nick Lyons surprise performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” stunned the room to silence followed by a standing ovation. Not long after, the gorgeous Rhonda Burchmore thrilled the guests with her cabaret performance of “All that Jazz” and “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend”.

2008 also marked a celebration for long term supporters “the Angels” 30th anniversary of their “Face to Face” album and to celebrate the dual 30th milestones, “the Angels” performed as the headline act closing the day’s proceedings in true Angel's tradition by bringing the house down.

What a day, 30 years and still going strong!!!
